The Brown Trout Tee began as a study in movement—looking closely at how the posture of a trout changes when holding its position in moving water versus actively swimming forward.

Viewed from above, the illustration explores the relationship between body shape, fin position, current, and movement. What can look like a fish simply suspended in a river is the result of a remarkably dynamic relationship between the animal and the water moving around it.

The study became the artwork for this tee.

Printed in warm cream ink on a deep espresso Comfort Colors 1717, this is a substantial, heavyweight shirt with the soft, broken-in character of a garment-dyed tee. Made from 100% ring-spun U.S. cotton, it has a relaxed unisex fit and enough weight to feel structured without sacrificing softness.

BEHIND THE ILLUSTRATION

The original study behind this illustration looked at brown trout swimming mechanics—comparing the position of the fins and body when maintaining position in moving water with their posture while swimming forward.

The final top-down composition grew from that study, turning an observation in fish biomechanics into something made to be worn.
